How we work

Standardised approach

Our method of working includes the following phases:

Translation, spelling check, check of completeness, accuracy and references, correction of any errors in style, consistency or clarity, consultation with client regarding list of terms if desired, further spelling check, final check by another translator. For large projects a translation team will be set up.

Translation and checking is provided by at least two translators who are native speakers of the source and target languages respectively.

Outstanding use of language

A translation should be easy reading – an important aspect which doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. Our translators have a perfect command of their languages and know how to get the right tone.

Clarity

Since translations should leave nothing to be desired, translating goes hand in hand with clearing up any uncertainties in the source text. A translation should convey the exact meaning of the original, which, for example, means it needs to match the knowledge level of the target group.

Your own style

The translation should match the house style of the client. We adopt the client's style and method of working as much as possible, so that the translation fits in well with your other publications.

How we work

Database

We have a daily-growing database of (among other things) a large number of specialist terms and client-related information. (It goes without saying that we will treat and maintain your information and materials in full confidence.)

Other computer applications

We make intensive use of the capabilities of the modern PC, such as specialised translation tools, electronic dictionaries and reference books linked to client-specific terms and information, international databases, Internet applications, word processing, spell-checking, index creation and conversion to diverse mediums and platforms. The use of third-party translation tools (e.g. Trados) and DTP software is possible on request.

Perfection

In principle, our clients will not have to make any changes to the translation. We achieve this by only using translators who are experts in the particular field. The translation is thoroughly checked prior to delivery. Translation and checking is provided by at least two translators who are native speakers of the source and target languages respectively.
